Enter the Vacation Raffle!
Floyd CARE is hosting a raffle to win a two night vacation in at 16-foot glamping yurt with access to a pond stocked with rainbow trout in Floyd County, Virginia. Entries will be accepted until 6:45pm on Saturday, September 26th where Floyd CARE will then draw a winner at 7pm, as we close our National Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration in Lineberry Park.
How to enter the raffle:
Sign up for a recurring monthly donation of $25 minimum to Floyd Friends of Asylum Seekers at the link below. Donations to Floyd CARE will not be accepted.
Email a screenshot of the recurring monthly donation to floydcareva@gmail.com to enter the raffle. Include your name, number of entries you have, and email and/or phone number. Please title the email “Vacation Raffle Entry”.
You will receive an extra entry for every $10 you donate on top of the $25 minimum. Example: A recurring monthly donation of $45 gets you 3 entries.
The winner must redeem the offering by June 30, 2027.
Vacation Details
Isolated 16-foot diameter yurt on the northern slope of the eastern continental divide in a 25+ year-old white pine forest with access to a pond stocked with rainbow trout. Bring a pole and grill your meal in the outdoor picnic area! Bate and charcoal provided; you must bring your own tackle.
No Wi-Fi or Internet but limited phone service (i.e. texting).
Glamping convenience includes spring water (via sink faucet) from 5 gallon crew container, marine composting toilet, refrigeration and freezer combination, propane stove top and oven, two queen bunkbeds, fully furnished kitchen, screen windows, a ceiling fan, and bedding for seasoned comfort. Additionally, pre-cut wood is available for the soap stone stove. There is no shower at this time.
Outside, you’ll find a wrap-around, cantilever deck with couches, chairs, and two tables with a surrounding garden, adjoining picnic area, grill, and fire ring.
Enjoy the ambient sounds of the creek below, the breeze through the forest, and an occasional drone of an airplane. Abundant local flora and fauna include fern pathways and antiphonal owls and coyotes.
In addition to the 12 minute drive to Buffalo Mountain with view of the mountian from the yurt in addition to a view of Pilot Mountain to the south.
The yurt hosts 4 guests comfortably, but more are welcome. The host also does not allow alcohol, drugs, or smoking (inside or outside). We can not accommodate pets or guests under the age of 18. Thank you for understanding!
